Description

A Brew Haha Bakery Assistant will help in the preparation and presentation of all of our gluten-free baked goods. They will be responsible for following the instructions of the Bakery Manager to ensure that all pastries are prepared on schedule and to the highest standards and quality. They will help maintain a clean and orderly work space and present any suggestions, recommendations, or ideas to the Bakery Manager. Bakery Assistants will also be trained as baristas to help support the cafe or trailer when needed. The goal is to increase the bakery hours of this role as demand for bakery items increases.

Days and hours may vary, potential hours
within the following working hours.
Monday - Friday: 6:30 am to 9:30 pm
Saturday - Sunday: 6:30 am to 2:30 pm


Responsibilities

  1. Bakery Operations:
    • Follow Bakery Manager's plan for pastry preparation regarding varieties and quantities.
    • Ensure baked goods preparation, presentation, and quality.
    • Monitor and maintain equipment to ensure proper functionality.
    • Enforce health, safety, and cleanliness standards to ensure a safe environment for both staff and customers.
  2. Quality Control:
    • Maintain the highest standards for quality, presentation, and taste.
    • Ensure adherence to recipes and preparation guidelines.
    • Conduct regular quality checks and taste tests to ensure consistent standards.
  3. Barista Responsibilities
    • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages, including espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, and specialty creations.
    • Operate espresso machines, coffee makers, and other equipment to brew and steam beverages.
    • Greet customers with a friendly and welcoming demeanor, providing excellent customer service.
    • Take customer orders, answer questions about beverages and menu items, and make recommendations based on preferences.
    • Ensure timely and accurate order preparation, striving for consistency and quality in every beverage served.
    • Develop a deep understanding of the coffee menu, including different blends, roasts, and brewing methods.
    • Process customer transactions, handle cash, and maintain an accurate cash register.
    • Keep track of orders and ensure accuracy in pricing.
    • Suggest add-ons, pastries, or other complementary items to customers, promoting additional sales.
  4. Other Responsibilities
    • Keep the work area clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times.
    • Regularly clean and maintain coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance and hygiene.
    • Collaborate with other baristas and team members to ensure a smooth workflow and consistent customer experience.
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues to coordinate tasks and share responsibilities.
    • Ensure back stock/prep area is clean and organized, including help putting away inventory, cleaning syrup and roasting prep areas, and ensuring easy access to all products and supplies.
    • Clean, reset, and ensure overall cleanliness, safety, comfortability and visual appeal of the entire shop.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a bakery is preferred but not necessary.
  • Familiarity with baking and bakery tools, techniques, and methods.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends if needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable transportation to commute to work.

Pay Rate

$12-$15/hour DOE
